The Social Responsibility and Public Policy Internal Advisory Committee is inviting you to participate in one of two Discovery Dialogues at the Germantown Campus. This will give you an opportunity to meet and talk with your peers about social
responsibility.
The Discovery Dialogues are opportunities for the Committee to learn about all the
wonderful things already happening at the College in areas of social responsibility
that you think should be acknowledged, celebrated, and promoted. The ideas that
you share at the dialogues will become part of a larger report that will go out later this
year, informing the MC community about the tapestry of social responsibility that
exists right here and now.
As the Social Responsibility Internal Advisory Committee is using the term, social
responsibility entails reflecting on ways to improve the quality of life for others in the
community and then turning these thoughts into actions. For example, staff who take
action to make their workplace environmentally safe; faculty who elicit and shape
discourse on social and political issues as part of their teaching strategy; or who work
with students outside the classroom as mentors or club and activity sponsors;
students who volunteer or participate in activities to improve the lives of others;
administrators who mentor young people at Montgomery County Public Schools, or
who form partnerships in the community to create training and jobs; and any
employees or students who assist underserved populations in the community.
